Aphasia

Apraxia
Apraxia, like dysarthria, is a motor speech disorder. One main difference is that apraxia is a deficit in the motor programming of speech, and does not necessarily affect involuntary (or automatic) tasks such as chewing. Dysarthria, affects motor production regardless of task and often includes a component of motor "weakness".

Dysarthria
Dysarthria, a motor speech disorder, may result from paralysis to speech muscles of articulation, phonation or respiration. This disorder may result from neural (of the brain) or muscular disorders such as Parkinism, M.S., or Dystonia

T.B.I. affects hundreds of thousands in North America every year. The leading cause of T.B.I. is motor vehicle accidents. Trauma to the brain can affect speech and both the expression and understanding of language.
